“WINDS BRING THE COLD OCEAN
The name Templeton Gap is a modern name by
winemakers to describe the weather effect that
benefit their grapes. The name caught on by many
throughout Paso Robles because the Templeton Gap
winds affect numerous AVAs. Maps later began to
use the name to describe the gap in the mountain
range that allowed the cool air to enter Paso Robles.
Without the Templeton Gap, wine grapes in Paso
Robles would not be possible.”
