“When the shouldered wine bottle with a cork in it was introduced in 17th century Iberia it made wine shipping more economical. It did this by changing storage aboard ships from wide bottles standing upright taking up horizontal space to vertical stacks of bottles on their side, allowing more wine on board. Cost is still a concern for wine shippers, and it is joined by environmental concern. Santiago Navarro, co-founder and CEO of the British company, Garçon Wines, says he has the solution: a bottle which is not only lighter than the glass 750 ml bottle, but also takes up less space because it is thinner yet still holds 750 ml of wine. In fact, the bottle is flat.” 😎😊
